The Central Vermont Special Olympic Delegation competed at SOVT Fall Games on Saturday, September 16. Events were held at Collin-Perley Sports & Fitness Center in St. Albans. This is the first time this delegation has participated in games in four years due to the “COVID affect,” the delegation is just getting back on its feet. Local athletes Christopher Riley, Grace Kirpan and Rachael Skinder competed. Chris was on the silver medal soccer team. Grace took home gold in the 50K race, fourth place in the 100K race, and silver in shot put. Rachael won bronze in the 50m and 100m walk and took home silver in the softball throw.

“Our athletes would not have been at these games if not for two local parents who stepped forward to coach. Many thanks to John Riley for coaching soccer and track and field, and to Lisa Mason who coached soccer,” stated a spokesperson for the event.

Special Olympics programming would not be possible without the immense help of numerous dedicated volunteers.
