In a poorly played game by both sides, Harwood had 7 hits and benefited from 16 walks. Only two of Colchester's runs were earned due to multiple Harwood errors.

Ashley Sweet picked up the win, while striking out seven. Sam Sandretto lashed out a double, a triple and collected two RBI. Freshman Hannah Lovely's double was good for an RBI.

Becca Roy and Randi Lowe each stole two bases on the day.

GAME RECAP #5

On May 1, Harwood hosted Peoples Academy in a game that could be described as a pitcher's duel. Both sides only gave up five hits each. Harwood's defense was much stronger as they won 8-2 over the Lady Wolves.

Ashley Sweet pitched very well in the victory, not giving up any earned runs.  Brittany Hoare brought the big bat for Harwood as she unloaded for three hits, one a triple, and smacked in three RBI. Sam Sandretto had a triple and two RBI.  Hannah Lovely had a hit and two RBI. Katelyn Durfee's sacrifice bunt pushed across a run as well. Sarah Danaher showcased her speed with two stolen bases and two runs scored.

GAME RECAP #6

On Saturday, May 3, Harwood ventured out in the cold, traveling to Bradford to play the Oxbow Olympians. As the Lady Highlanders were exiting the bus, the temperature was 39 degrees and falling. Add a very stiff breeze and the game was played well below the freezing mark.

Harwood quickly put a run on the board in the first inning but then got locked up in a pitcher's duel. Neither team did much until the sixth inning, when the Highlanders unloaded for seven runs and added four more in the seventh for a 12-2 final.

Ashley Sweet pitched brilliantly, giving up only three hits, striking out five and walking four. Harwood's near-perfect defense only allowed two unearned runs.

Sweet also brought along her bat as she laced a single, a double and had two RBI. Hannah Lovely smacked out two singles as well. Freshman Chelsea Delphia was called upon to pinch hit in the sixth inning with bases loaded. Delphia delivered a single against Oxbow's drawn-in infield that pushed two runs across for the Highlanders. Sam Sandretto capped off Harwood's sixth-inning rally with a grand slam. Randi Lowe stole two bases and Morgan Lamson stole one in the seventh as Harwood posted insurance runs to close out the game.

Harwood now has a 4-2 record and hosted U32 on May 6 and will host Vergennes on May 8 in Waterbury.
