To The Editor:

Voters of Waitsfield, Warren and Fayston are being asked to approve $4,000 each to help fund the part-time salary for an excellent coordinator for the Mad River Valley Housing Coalition. The funds are not for another study or as an ongoing tax. The coordinator's expertise has made the housing coalition what is it today and she has provided valuable help to local governments to identify housing needs and possible solutions. Each $4,000 would be matched by funding from the Mad River Community Fund.

Over the past three years I’ve watched the housing coalition grow, perhaps in fits and starts, but always moving forward, toward its goal of affordable housing, affordable rents and care of our residents needing housing services. I encourage voters to read the information on the MRVPD website and consider voting for this funding. Yes, it’s hard times. But we still should consider our neighbors' needs.
