To The Editor:

The Mad River Valley libraries thank everyone who made the 2025 Summer Learning Program “Color our World” a success. It takes thoughtful participation from the community to put together our robust series of programming including the following:

Thanks once again to the Waitsfield Farmers Market for allowing us space to kick off our Summer Learning Program. Three very impressive parade banners were created for our float in the Warren Fourth of July celebration. We also appreciate Bliss Ridge Farm for hosting us a second year for “The Colors of Ponding,” our exploration of all things underwater.

Whether enjoying the Pupptkabob show and wind sock workshop, creating works of art out of CDs, or upcycling clothing, our artistic offerings were greatly enhanced by artists Sarah Frechette, Beth Kendrick and Meg Reinhold.

A shout out also goes to Blockhouse Studio for donating clay for our final Big Art Party, and to volunteer Martha Csala for snack help during our wrap up celebration. And, we couldn’t provide those awesome prizes for summer reading bingo and our adventure hunt without the generosity of the Village Grocery and Chooseco LLC, publishers of the Choose Your Own Adventure Book series.

Most importantly, we thank the children and families who came to the workshops and events. Without you, there would be no summer learning program.

Finally, we appreciate our libraries’ Friends organizations and the Vermont Department of Libraries for the funds that allow us to bring the summer learning program to the Mad River Valley community.

While our event series is over, there is still time to turn in your summer reading logs or BINGO cards and to find all eight secret Adventure Hunt boxes. Stop by any of the local libraries to learn more.
