To The Editor:

Many thanks to Stop the Bleed trainer Jonathan Scott, workshop sponsor University of Vermont Medical Center, and the attendees of the October 18 Stop the Bleed Workshop.

The Mad River Valley Recreation District (MRVRD) was pleased to offer this one-hour practical training for emergencies. It gave attendees the confidence to help in uncontrolled bleeding situations, the most common cause of preventable trauma death in the U.S. It was empowering to learn how to use a tourniquet and know that you have the ability to potentially save a life. No matter how rapid the arrival of emergency responders, bystanders will always be the first on the scene. To that end, MRVRD is willing to offer this workshop again in the winter. Training is free, about one hour and includes a presentation, the opportunity for discussion and a hands-on skills station.
