To The Editor:

Your recent editorial was very odd. It seemed to want to make immorality a side show to getting along. If you’re white and middle class, then the horrors inflicted on our fellow immigrants are somehow removed from our white middle class existence. Can you just say, to your Trumpist friend, it’s fine that you support separating children from their families? That putting human beings in concentration camps is okay? That destroying democracy is acceptable? Can you really equate a disagreement over school taxes to destroying peoples’ lives?

I have no problem with the fact that you have a Trumpist friend. That’s okay with me. But I can’t do it. I agree with Mary Laulis, the haters need to give it a rest: immigrants are us. While I’m polite to Trumpists in our community, I cannot be their friend. To me, that is tantamount to normalizing their barbarity.
