To The Editor:
A recent poetry event at Joslin Memorial Library was an example of how a library serves communities in wonderful ways. Poets and other authors brought verse, prose, poems, and short stories, and overall it was testament to the passionate bonds of friends, neighbors and others of common interest gathering to delight in what each has to offer.
Kudos to the library staff and its programs director, Shevonne Travers, for preparing for and hosting the occasion. There were treats for all, including a delicious banana bread from an Australian recipe which my spouse eagerly sought for our own home, as she did Mary Kathleen Mehuron's delightful fictional account of the Jersey shore from whence she also hails.
As frequent visitors to the area, we're finding more and more extraordinary people and places to enjoy, and no better one to frequent than the library, a place for both quiet reading and study – and for enlivening experiences.
