To The Editor:

The Big Picture in Waitsfield has seen its share of changes over the past couple of years, but one standout remains quietly excellent – and far more under-the-radar than it should be: the restaurant.

Managed by longtime Big Picture fixture Kevin McMillion, who knows the rhythms of The Valley inside and out, and led by chefs Colby Miller and Alexander Brink, the kitchen consistently turns out delicious, thoughtfully-prepared food at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting for families, couples, and friends.  Service is friendly, efficient, and unpretentious, making for an easy, enjoyable night out.

While reservations aren’t accepted, the wait is often shorter than at other local spots, so it’s well worth stopping in. And if the parking lot looks full, don’t be deterred – it’s usually movie theater traffic. Head inside anyway.

You won’t be disappointed. The Big Picture restaurant is a treasure that deserves far more attention than it gets. Highly recommended: the trout pâté, the mussels, the “Not a Burger” (meatloaf), and any of the daily specials.
