Duxbury is going to get its own local beer shortly. Ted and Cynthia Ewald have recently received a Duxbury Development Review Board (DRB) permit to open a seven-barrel brewery at their 4270 Route 100 property which is also home to indyYoga.

The DRB considered their application last month.

According to the minutes of that hearing, board members asked Ted Ewald to explain the project. Ewald told the board that he wanted to add the seven-barrel brewery in the existing commercial building next to the yoga studio.

The project will require widening the driveway from 33 to 53 feet to accommodate tractor-trailer traffic. He told the board he wants to have a small tasting room on site and will sell growlers and bottles, etc. The minutes note that the "operation would be after the yoga sessions to avoid traffic and parking issues."

The liquid waste from the brewing process will be disposed in farm pits. The grain will be sold to pig farmers. The brewery will have an on-site distribution center and if profitable will be expanded in two years.

The board unanimously approved the applications.
