The Fayston town office has been renamed Robert Vasseur Town Hall in honor of select board member Bob Vasseur who stepped down this year after 57 years on the job. Vasseur received a standing ovation for his service. Voters were treated to a video made by Fayston Elementary School students honoring Vasseur.

While 416 of Fayston’s 1,072 voters cast ballots on Tuesday, it was a smaller crowd of about 100 that gathered at the school to conduct the business of the town. In short order voters re-elected moderator Dave Jones and town clerk Patti Lewis.

Voters learned that the planning commission is updating the town’s land use regulations and approved a town budget of $1,159,368.

Chuck Martel, a former chair of the planning commission and member of both the planning commission and the development review board, was elected to fill the vacancy on the select board.

Susan Daley was re-elected to the Harwood Union School Board. Fayston voters approved a school budget of $1,774,780, which results in education spending of $15,460 per equalized pupil, which is 1.3 percent higher than the current year.
