With fall approaching here is a reminder that grant requests for the MRVRD grant program are due November 1, 2025, and must be submitted using a google form found on the MRVRD website. Grant awards are typically from $500 - 5,000. As a new voting member starting in January, Moretown programs will be eligible for MRVRD grants. Eligible applicants include recreation and environmental nonprofits as well as citizen-driven efforts in the area of recreation and ecological sustainability. For more information and the link for the grant application, go to https://www.mrvrd.org/application

MRVRD is looking for Moretown’s first board member. This volunteer opportunity formally starts in January 2026, but the Moretown representative will be invited to attend meetings this fall as a non-voting member. Board members attend monthly meetings (third Tuesday of each month) and dedicate some additional time to collaborating with community partners and supporting MRVRD initiatives. Join a friendly and passionate team of Valley residents and an executive director who work together to advance the MRVRD's mission to enhance the quality of recreational opportunities in The Valley. Tuesday, August 19: Conservation & Recreation Visioning (CRV) presentation at the MRV Chamber Mixer at the Rec Hub, 5 p.m. start.

Saturday, September 13: Morefest, 4 p.m. start and ending at dusk with fireworks.

Saturday, September 20: Community Volunteer Fair (likely10 a.m. to noon).  Stay tuned for more information. 

Mid-October: “Stop the Bleed” free workshop offered by UVM Medical Center (exact date TBD). Open to coaches and the whole community.
