Mike Bishop resigned from the Harwood Unified Union School District (HUUSD) board by email on October 9, creating a vacancy on the six-town board.
He is one of two reps from Fayston on the board and served on the board since 2022. His term ends March 2027. Most recently he served as chair of the board’s finance committee.
His resignation email gave no specifics as to why he is stepping down. Bishop was appointed to replace Theresa Membrino in 2022 and ran for re-election in 2023 to serve the final year of that term. He was re-elected in 2024 and his term ends in March 2027.
There are 14 representatives on the HUUSD board, two each from Warren, Fayston, Waitsfield, Moretown and Duxbury and four from Waterbury. Board members are elected to staggered three-year terms.
Any interested Fayston resident can throw their hat in the bring seeking appointment to the board and will serve until Town Meeting on March 3, 2026. At that point that person could seek election to serve the balance of that term, until Town Meeting 2027.
Those interested are asked to submit a letter that clarifies their interest, experience and resume as well as why they want to serve. Letters should go to school board chair Ashley Woods,
