Harwood Union Girls Varsity Volleyball defeated Montpelier on October 6 with scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-12, 25-13.
The Highlanders capped off Senior Night with a strong team performance full of energy, emotion, and excitement. Once they settled in, Harwood found their rhythm and played their offense, coach Mindy Pockoski reported.
Sophomore middle hitter Isabella Pockoski topped the stat sheet in three categories, Aces, Blocks, and Kills with six aces, two blocks, 10 kills, and two digs.
Senior middle hitter Lessa Dreimiller delivered steady power with eight kills, two aces, and two digs, while senior outside hitter Aspen Linskeybrought seven digs, five kills, and two aces.
Junior outside hitter Zosia Costanza was reliable on defense with nine digs, adding two aces and three kills to the effort.
Junior Libero Fiona Casey was a steady force in the back row, picking up 10 digs and delivering countless perfect passes to keep the offense in rhythm.
At the helm of the offense, setters Savannah Fulton and Natalie Folsom helped the Highlanders find their flow. Fulton tallied 19 assists, three aces, and seven kills, while Folsom added 11 assists, 13 digs, four aces, and six kills, helping steady the team when it mattered.
On October 4, Harwood Union defeated Mount Abe with scores of 25-14, 25-9, 25-17.
During that game, the girls’ volleyball team lit up the court with a serving showcase defeating Mt. Abraham in three, coach Pockoski said.
The Highlanders were unstoppable from the service line, with Natalie Folsom, Savannah Fulton, and Aspen Linskey each racking up an impressive seven aces.
Senior setter Savannah Fulton stuffed the stat sheet with seven aces, nine assists, and five kills, while sophomore middle hitter Isabella Pockoski put on a powerful performance at the net with three blocks and nine kills.
On the outside, junior Zosia Costanza added steady offensive firepower with five kills, while senior Aspen Linskey combined her seven aces with four digs to keep plays alive. Junior setter Natalie Folsom rounded out the night with seven aces, seven digs, and four assists, showing her all-around impact on both ends of the court.
