This weekend, May 17, marks the official opening day for the Waitsfield Farmers Market. Market manager Miranda Dalton said the market was opening with a full contingent of vendors.
Market hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year the market is opening with 57 vendors on the field, a mix of returning vendors and some new vendors as well, Dalton said. The market runs every Saturday through mid-October.
She said there were some fun new food vendors this year, including a Momo vendor and Filipino food vendor.
This weekend, musical entertainment will be provided by WMRW doing a live DJ set from the market.
“It’s exciting and new this year. It will be interesting after we’ve had live music for so long,” Dalton said.
Field conditions are good for the market, she said now that the rain has stopped.
For this first market and the coming five markets, Dalton will be training a new farmer’s market manager, Heather Mallory. Mallory is familiar with the market from her time as a vendor with her Green Seed Herbals business.
