Celebrate Vermont’s vibrant arts scene at this preview Feast of Fools Community Festival, happening Sunday, September 21, at Camp Meade in Middlesex. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a taste of what’s to come when the full Feast of Fools Festival launches in 2026.
The Feast of Fools began in medieval Europe as a day of revelry when commoners became kings, fools became prophets, and music, laughter, and food united communities. In that tradition, Camp Meade will come alive with circus, music, food, and community gathering.
Highlights include:
- Middlesex Artisan Market – 11 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. featuring quality local creators.
- The Red Trouser Show – internationally renowned circus stars performing at 1 and 3 p.m.
- The Hokum Brothers – Vermont’s own fun-loving band playing two sets at noon and 2 p.m.
- ONE Arts – face-painting and creative projects for all ages, 2-5 p.m.
- Montpelier Alive’s New Resident Mixer – connect with friends old and new 3-5 p.m.
- Brass Balagan – raucous street brass at 4 p.m.
Vendors including Woodbelly Pizza (noon-5 p.m.) and The Local Wine & Beer (noon-5 p.m.) will be on hand.
