Warren Town Garage

Warren voters passed a $9.7 million bond to construct a new town garage on Vaughn Brown Road with 324 yes votes, 211 no votes and two spoiled ballots. The town will proceed with putting the project out to bid with construction slated for next year. The land on School Road in Warren Village, where the town’s current garage is located will be rehabbed and may potentially be used for housing.

Over the fall and winter, Warren’s road crew will undertake preliminary site work at the Vaughn Brown Road site, as time and their regular work allows. The town expects to be using the new garage by next fall.

“We are so grateful for the support and understanding our residents have shown in providing a facility worthy of the hard work and dedication of our road crew and the town’s equipment. Thank you. Now we work hard with our partners at WLA and Re-Arch to keep the final number as low as we possibly can through efficiency, competitive bidding and making tough decisions where needed,” said select board chair and vice chair Devin Klein Corrigan and Camilla Behn in a statement.

“We hear the financial strain our residents are experiencing and we take our responsibility to keep it to a minimum seriously,” they added.

Warren has 1,607 registered voters and 537 of them cast ballots in this week’s November 4 election for a turnout of 33.4%. That was one of the highest turnouts in The Valley.
