Ever heard about the Waitsfield Holiday Walkabout? It's a two-day holiday celebration led by shops in the Mad River Valley. This year it will happen on December 13 and 14, from noon to 4 p.m.

The Holiday Walkabout is a chance for people to get together for free activities, food, and live music.

There is cookie decorating at Joslin Memorial Library on Saturday. Three Mountain Cafe will have peppermint brownies, eggnog lattes, and other holiday treats. “This is our first year and we’re looking forward to being part of it,” said Kayla Kenney from Three Mountain Cafe.

"I love this community," said Nicole Chick from Early Literacy Labs. “The coziness and twinkling lights.” Early Literacy Labs will have holiday stories and crafts. S'more making and musician Madigan Linnane will be at Inklings Children's Books.

Another shop back this year is Whippletree Designs. They’re going to be handing out candy canes. “Candy canes are fun because you can eat them or use them for decoration,” the owner of Whippletree Designs said.

This year there are new things to do, too. Mad River Mentoring is having Soup with Santa at the United Church of Christ from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drip Culture is offering peppermint tea and wellness chats. People can even make their own glass ornaments at Salt & Sand Studios in Warren.

"It's great to see people gathering from near and far for the holidays," Annemarie Furey of Product Think Tank says. She plans to hand out hot cider for the Walkabout.

Those are only some of the fun activities. To learn more, check out the Mad River Valley Community Calendar.
