Waitsfield kindergarteners voted for new dogleg shape.

The kindergarteners at Waitsfield Elementary School have voted on next year's dog tag shape and color, learning about voting as well as determining part of the sartorial splendor of the town's dogs next year. Each year, shortly after school starts, Waitsfield town clerk Jennifer Peterson draws up ballots offering multiple shapes and colors for students to consider and explains to them the act of voting, tabulating ballots, and elections in general.

This year students chose between a star, car, or hydrant shape and red, green or orange. The star shape got nine votes compared to the hydrant's seven votes and the car shape received zero votes. In terms of color, orange narrowly edged out red, seven votes to six, with green garnering three votes.
