A ski academy graduate himself, Herhuysky holds a B.S. from the University of Alaska where he also participated as a member of their Nordic ski team before pursuing his coaching career. His experience as both a coach and student-athlete at Sugar Bowl Academy, provides him with a firsthand understanding of the transformative impact academy environments can have on young athletes. Brandon’s coaching philosophy is rooted in physiology, athlete wellness, and a team-first approach that emphasizes long-term athlete development and positive team culture.

“Brandon’s passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the trails makes him a perfect fit for GMVS,” said Tracy Keller, GMVS head of school. “His commitment to fostering a positive team culture and long-term growth is aligned with our mission to help each athlete reach their full potential.”

He will be joining the Nordic coaching team alongside Kat Derrick and Mikaela Paluszek, further strengthening the depth and expertise of the program.
