To The editor:
It is said that those who give to others experience the best medicine! If true, our Valley should be the healthiest place on earth. I was sitting here thinking of all the folks who volunteer in every aspect of our community. I couldn’t even give a list, it would go on and on and on. I spout ad nauseam to anyone who will listen to the joys of living in our fabulous community. Grateful, doesn’t even cover how I feel about my neighbors, their warm hearts and giving spirit!
I was lucky enough to be one of the senior pen pals that the fifth and sixth graders at Fayston School corresponded with for the school year. My pen pal is such a terrific young man, and has brought much joy to my life. I speak for every one of us in the program that it was such a positive experience. With permission, I am quoting Jane Lolax who stood up in the senior luncheon the next week to express how much the experience meant to her. She spoke of feeling “down the morning before we were to have the meet and greet. She said after the time with these young people, it has given her hope that this old world will keep chugging along with these wonderful young people at the helm.” This made all of us smile. Thank you Doug, Judi, Camilla, and all involved.
Also, a big shout out to Cherri Sherman for her very informative and fun articles, Ageless in Our Community: I personally thank her for what she wrote about me. Heck, she made me sound so nice…even my ex-husbands would like me! I read and re-read all her articles, taking in the experiences each of my neighbors has gleaned from their years on terra firma. All fascinating humans.
I can’t ever miss a chance to thank each of you who drive, donate or support us in countless ways in keeping Free Wheelin’ rolling! We appreciate you going into our seventh year.
Thank you, my Valley friends, for every kindness you show one another. Blessed are we!
